GENERAL

In general, take a few minutes of time to trace out the system and how it is designed to work. Once the parameters are established, it is easy to go over the system to evaluate and maintain it.

The above guidelines are published as a courtesy by APSCO Engineering Ltd. Please feel free to use this information as you like.

APSCO Engineering Ltd. has been designing, manufacturing, installing, and servicing dust control systems since 1968. Our approach has always been one of service orientation to the whole spectrum of the dust control problem, not just the supply of one component, ie. the dust collector. We recognise that your system is unique and that parts of the above do not fit it. We hope that you will, nevertheless, find parts of the above helpful. We are including the following simple maintenance program outline for your use.

MAINTENANCE PROGRAM

for

WOODWORK DUST CONTROL SYSTEMS

WEEKLY

Continuously check for loose hoods and ductwork around your machines that could be hazardous to personnel and equipment. Check flexible ducting for abrasion damage and replace as necessary.

Watch for signs of sawdust or shavings returning through the ductwork. This would indicate filter breakage. Repair or replace filter tube.

Listen for noises that would indicate service requirements; ie. worn bearings, V-belt squeal, excessive vibrations, etc. Investigate and repair as necessary.

EVERY 60 DAYS

Check the fan V-belt/s for proper condition and tension. Replace or adjust as necessary.

During the summer months, grease the fan and motor bearings with a mediumweight industrial purpose grease.

ONCE A YEAR

Replace the filter tubes with a new or cleaned and repaired set. Clean the used ones, repair or replace damaged tubes as necessary, and store this set for the next year's maintenance cycle.

Inspect and repair or replace any broken components of the filter shaking system. Inspect, replace and/or adjust any V-belts or drive chains as necessary. Lubricate any drive chains with a light-weight mineral oil. Drain and refill any gear reducers with No. 10 weight mineral oil.

Inspect the baghouse for any fatigue cracks. Repair as necessary.

Clean inside ductwork of all accumulated dust. This will help with your housekeeping, and reduce the danger of fire.
